geforce 8800 gt or sparkle 9500 gt 1 GB?
hey guys, i need to know your opinion on graphic cards. i currently have geforce 8800 gt. should i keep geforce 8800 gt or should i get sparkle 9500 gt 1 gb? please if you can also explain why should i or why shouldn’t i. Thanks
The 8800GT is a much faster card than the 9500GT. The first digit in a Nvidia card model is simply the series number. The 9000 series is newer than the 8000 series but not necessarily faster.
In general, cards in the 500 or less range are budget cards and not suitable for high-end gaming. A 600 card is typically the entry-level series for gaming, and above that is higher-end cards. As such, you would more compare a 8800GT to a 9800GT (which are actually the same card as far as graphics capabilities).
Also, more RAM doesn’t necessarily mean a faster card. Take a look at the memory speeds on cards, and you’ll find that cheaper cards with more ram generally have slower RAM and make up for it by having more.
At this point, the lowest I’d go for Nvidia cards is a 9800GT. The 8800GT is probably cheaper, but the 9800GT is the same card with some extra features and not that much more expensive if more expensive at all.
