Need some help on science homework about density. Please explain, thanks best answer 10 points?

OK, I need to find which ice is denser than the water. The water’s volume is 60 mL. With Regular ice, the volume after was 65 mL, and the dry ice was 58 mL after. Both were 60 mL before started.*** Also, please explain how you could tell which was denser than the water.
Also, why did the water’s density rise when regular ice was used?

it’ a common thing that density increases when you reduce temperature. As the temperature degrades, distance along molecules will shrink and you can put more molecules at same volume.

About dry ice, they arent made from water. They’re frozen carbon dioxyde, though. So it’s pretty different with regular ice which is made from water.

Dry ice is much more cold than regular ice, so it’ll greatly reduce water’s temperature and make the water more dense. Temperature of dry ice is -78 C while regular ice is 0 C.

The water’s density didnt actually rise when regular ice was used. Its because regular ice will sublime into water and hence add the water’s volume. You should notice the additional 5 mL. In the other side, dry ice will sublime and evaporate directly into gas.
