Pentium D heatsink and fan compatible with Q6600 processor?
Hi does anyone know if I would be able to use my intel pentium D Socket 775 heatsink and fan with an intel core 2 quad q6600?
Both processors are socket 775.
B3 or G0…either way, get an OEM HSF and install it. The B3 is a regular convection oven…the G0 is better, but still not great. Toss that Pentium D HSF, or make a decorative paperweight out of it.
Get the Zalman…and then prepare to bleed a bit putting it in. It is the great Ginsu knife of HSFs.
I prefer the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, but it has its own mounting problems. Always mount your new HSF with the Mobo out of the case.
Another good choice is the Rosewill RCX-Z775…only $19.95, but is right up there with the big boys.
Finally…all of these HSFs are HUGE! Make sure they will fit in your case.
