Flash/Update BIOS?
im having big trouble trying to update a ASUS P4VP-MX Mainboard it last rev is 2002/2003 and needs update to support new CPU. i currently have a older CPU in it to get it to work for now to flash it and get it to support the new CPU
the problem is i can even get to the flash
the bios doesnt support FlashEZ or AWARDFLash or AMI flash or anything.
the bios is AMI – American Megatrends International however i tryed getting the bios from ASUS the latest ones i tried them all. however i dont think its a problem with the BETA .002 ROM FILE nor the AMI file. its something to do with the AFUDOS.exe file that doesnt wanna play nicely.
any ideas
i just wanna flash it.

I get the impression your trying to install version 1011, this version is a self installing windows program you need to run it in Windows, it is not a flash file.
Personally I would recommend you use the 1013 version located on the above page, avoid the BETA unless you need something specific that it adds.
1. Download the 1013 BIOS from the ASUS site

2. Extract the BIOS from the ZIP archive. (they don’t tell you to do this in the manual) the file inside the ZIP archive should be called “P4VP1013.AMI”
3. Copy the file “P4VP1013.AMI” to a freshly formated floppy.
4. Remove the floppy from the computer, Reboot the computer.
5. During POST (I assume you know what this is) pres ALT+F2, this will enter EZFlash.
6. Insert the floppy disk.
7. Enter the file name of the BIOS update on your floppy. (Should be “P4VP1013.AMI”)
8. If EZFlash finds a valid file it should then prompt you asking if you wish to install. (While the computer is updating the BIOS pray your power doesn’t fail)
9. It should ask you to update main BIOS area, say yes.
10. Once finished it will ask you to reboot.
11. When the system is at the post enter the BIOS setup, load BIOS defaults and then exit and save changes. The system will probably reboot after this.
Now you should be free to change BIOS settings how you like or just let it boot as normal.
