Has anybody ever climbed the stairwell of a tall office tower from the ground floor all the way to the top?

If so, does the stairwell extend all the way to the top, or does it stop abruptly at a certain floor level?

If it ends at a certain floor, such as, hypothetically, the 21st floor, how would someone from one of the top floors make it down the stairwell to the ground floor in an emergency?
If the building has floors with no continuous stairwell, are these floors occupied?

I use to reside in a residential tower that was 15 stories high and for exercise, I use to run up 15 flights of stairs, then reverse it and run down the same stairs to the ground floor, ten times.

If there was a fire in the building the elevators are automatically locked up preventing any escape that way, so as long as these residents or office workers can walk on their own, they can use the stairways in an emergency to escape the building. There are no number 13 floors, in any building since the number 13 is considered to be bad luck
