Board Computer

Is there a relevance between how many times your check engine light flashes and the on board computer?

When I turn my key to the “on” position (before it’s started) my check engine light flashes 7 times and then stays on… is there a relevance between that and the on board computer having a trouble code?
It’s an 06 focus zx3… the light flashes 7 times and stays on after that… I want to avoid taking it to a dealer in case I did something bad….

Whenever you start your vehicle, your “check engine” light will come on for a few seconds to let you know the light is working. After that it should go out. Yours is staying on. As far as i know, there is nothing that can be read from how many times it flashes and the trouble code, unless it’s doing that to tell you how many codes have been stored. You will have to have the codes retrieved to find out what they are trying to tell you. There are some auto parts stores that will read the codes for you. Keep in mind, though, whatever codes come up only point you in a direction, not necessarily telling you the sensor is bad. For instance, your O2 sensor is reading lean is telling you just that. It is reading your system is running lean. Many codes can tell you things, too. Like MAP sensor code, O2 sensor lean, Throttle position sensor fault, could all mean something as simple as a vacuum hose is cracked, loose, of disconnected. Good luck, and have fun.

Anyone have a Dell Inspiron mini?

Have just ordered one:

Base:Intel ® Atom™ Processor N270 (1.60GHz, 533MHz, 512K cache)
Memory:1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Video Card:Integrated Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator 500
Hard Drive: 16GB Solid State Hard Drive
Operating System:Ubuntu 8.04
Wireless Networking:Dell 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini-Card
Bluetooth: Dell Wireless Bluetooth Card
Battery:4-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (32 WHr)
Camera: Integrated 1.3MP Camera (N-Series Only)
Colour Choice:Cherry Red
LCD: 8.9″ WSVGA (WLED) Truelife Display

My 2 worries are the 16GB hardrive (however I’m not having pics n music stored on it as I have a desktop for that) and the Ubunto OS (never used before).

If anybody owns one, what do you rate it?? Also how is it to type on something so tiny?

ubunto is a horrible thing. get windows so you can install it when it arrives

Nec Chips

Nec Chips

Japanese products and you………..current events?

A few people have said that they will be boycotting all Japanese products due to the Japanese whaling in the Antartic. I heartily agree that whaling is unacceptable but just how far will be people go to boycott all Japanese products?

Does that also go for Japanese cars, computers, game consoles, cameras. Basically, anything electronic that comes out of Japan including micro chips that are used in American & British products.

Sony, Nintendo, Toshiba, Hitachi, NEC, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Matsushita, Pioneer, Sanyo etc etc etc

That means everything from alarm clocks to kettles. The chips are imported in from Japan and manufactured by British firms.

Just how far will people go?

I was going post this very question but you beat me to it.

I would love to boycott japanese goods, for us all to do it with enough impact on their economy that they would drop the killing of whales but i know in my heart it’s not going to happen.
I’m a big fan of japanese goopds, my house should have a bloody Sony sign on the roof after i’ve thrown so much money in their direction.

The number of products is vast, the number of countries they sell to is, well, probably just about every country on the planet and most of these don’t care anyway.

I’ve seen whales in the wild, fantastic animals and this is one of those things where i really want to stop buying their goods in protest but just know that deep down i wont.

Cooler Retail

Cooler Retail

Can I swap a newly bought (unopened) Att phone for a different one of equal or lesser value at a retail shop?

I have a new phone coming in the mail as a replacement for a previous phone I had which got damaged, and I realize there is a cooler phone that actually costs less that I’d prefer.

did you buy the phone online or was it a replacement sent to you?
was the phone a referbished status?
did you buy it within 30 days of the day you go into a store?
if you answered yes to the first questen, no to the second and yes to the third then you can goto a store and trade the phone at the store with a $35 restocking fee that may apply.
this only applys if it was a new activation or a upgrade activation of a phone though, not with replacement equipment.
