Card Ieee

IEEE 1394 device no longer starting and suddenly network card is no longer installed?

Hello! I was hoping you computer geeks could help me with something. Preferably somebody with experience. Tonight, I decided to help my friend out by taking her computer home and putting a fresh install of windows on it.

Problem? Her wireless card would only work for a certain amount of time, before the computer crashed and when you turned it back on it showed up as not installed in the device manager. Sometihng else strange I noticed was the IEEE 1394 host controller was giving a yellow explanation mark – error code 10.

So I decided to try to reinstall the network card drivers, the same ones I used before, and guess what? Pretty much said they were the wrong drivers! They definitely weren’t. I’m not retarded, but I could really use some help with this.

Also, I’m not an expert, so wondering.. Are IEEE 1394 host controller and the Wireless card connected?
I shoulda mentioned all the drivers are fully updated.. =\

Instal the motherboard DRIVERS, especially the CHIPSET, next time post make/model, we’ll link you!
try to go to windows update, click custom, than hardware> download ALL that is offered.

Notebook Network

How can I fix my wireless notebook…It is not wanting to connect to a wireless network?

it uses 802.11b/g WLAN, it finds networks available, but when I click connect, it states windows is unable to connect to the network…why??

Turn everything off and unplug the devices and computers. After one minute turn the modem back on. After one minute turn the router back on. Now turn everything else back on. This should reset all the WAN and LAN IP addresses. Try accessing the internet.

Memory Upgrade

Is it difficult to upgrade my memory on my computer?

I was wondering if it is difficult to upgrade memory on a computer because I was thinking of upgrading my computer’s memory?

most important thing is finding compatible RAM. Crucial.com has a good tool, but you need to visit their website using Internet Explorer, or it might not work.
It will tell you what kind of RAM your system uses.
It is the easiest thing to upgrade, maybe have a friend do it to show you, then you try doing it.
Otherwise, there are some good tutorials on how to do it on the web…
Remember to disconnect ALL wires from the PC case and ground yourself before doing any work on the guts of your PC.

Motherboard Toshiba

How to reset the BIOS password of a Toshiba laptop without removing the motherboard?

As far as I know, there is no way to bypass a BIOS power on password in Toshiba laptops. It is a factory repair only. (I believe they replace a security chip on the mobo)
