How do I install my heatsink?

I bought a 478 socket Intel motherboard, and it came with the CPU brackets. I bought an Intel Pentium 4 chip, which came with the heatsink/fan. The heatsink came spring-screws in the four corners. My problem is I can’t plug the spring-screws into the four screwholes of the brackets. I’ve tried pushing down on the spring with a screwdriver and screwing it in, but I made zero progress. I know the heatsink has to be touching the CPU, but I just can’t get it down that far. Should I just remove the screws? Thanks.
I think it is compatable, because it fits perfectly in the brackets. The reason I can’t secure it is the screws just won’t screw. The brackets fit perfectly around it. Thanks for the help

just buy find a compatible heatsink tht goes with your processor. try not to modify the socket at it might damage the circuit on your motherboard. and watch out the “Pin” on ur processor don’t bend it.
there are 2 major advice tht u might need
1, Always discharge electro-static from your hand before touching and hardware parts especially PROCESSOR. (touch the ground or wear a ESD(ElectroStaticDischarge) handband.
2, If your heatsink or processor don’t come with “Heat Conducting Compound”, you need to buy it seperately and apply it over the contact surface of heatsink and proccessor to provide a bond to transfer the heat from processor to heatsink more efficiently.

Where can I find a ATX motherboard w/ processor or a socket “A” motherboard w/ processor for Alienware comp?

I have a big green Alienware desktop computer that I bought a few years ago. Everything just started to fall apart on it and now I’m looking for a motherboard that is for Intel athlon and it also needs slots for DDR Ram and AGP slot for video. Supposedly these parts are hard to find because they aren’t readily sold anymore. If anyone has any ideas of where I can find these parts I greatly appreciate it!
