Can I get wireless broadband on an Acer TravelMate 230XV?

I have an Acer TravelMate 230XV laptop which I bought 4 years ago, and it’s an old laptop now. But, it has Integrated 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet, Wake-on-LAN Ready and Integrated IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN with internal antenna. I have a SpeedTouch 545 router with a SpeedTouch 110 Wireless PC Card, so now it’s a wireless router. But, my problem is I want wireless broadband with my wireless router, and I don’t know if I need a wireless laptop adapter to communicate with the router or not. I don’t really know what to do anyway, but someone with the same laptop would be appreciated as they would understand better. I just want to have wireless broadband on this laptop only if that’s possible. I’m with AOL in the UK, and yes my package does accept wireless broadband. Thanks

Yes you can, but you’ll need to hire someone who knows what they’re doing to do it for you.

Board Cover

Board Cover

Why is there a picture of a chess board on the cover of Breaking Dawn?

The cover is a picture of a forward white king and a distant red pawn what does that mean?

Stephenie Meyer once said that she found it facinating that Bella goes from being the weakest played on the board to the absolute strongest.
The coloring is symbolic because red is the color of blood that of course human Bella has and white is the color of vampire’s skin.

Wireless Laptop

How to connect an old laptop to a wireless broadband connection?

I am thinking of upgrading to the latest innovate way of using the Internet the wireless way. But the thing is that I have only got one wireless laptop but have two old laptops which I would like to connect. ….I want to know can this be done and what do I have to purchase in order to connect the non wireless laptops to a wireless connection…

Get either a PMCIIA wireless card, or a USB Dongle (also a wireless card). That should get both laptops to work with wireless.

Tip: Get a 802.11G card (a little pricier but worth the cash, extra range and speed)

Amp Hour

Amp Hour

What are Amp-Hours in relation to Solar Power Batteries?

1.Say you have 12 volt 60 amp-hour battery, and you have an appliance that uses 1000 watts to run it. How do you calculate how long you can run the appliance with this battery?

2. If you connect two 60 amp-hour batteries do you have 120 amp-hours?

I’m new to solar energy and want to know what the technical terms mean.

You cannot convert watts to amps, since watts are power and amps are coulombs per second (like converting apples to miles). If you have at least least two of the following three: amps, volts and watts then the missing one can be calculated. Since watts are amps multiplied by volts, there is a simple relationship between them.

Converting Watts to Amps
The conversion of Watts to Amps is governed by the equation Amps = Watts/Volts

For example 12 watts/12 volts = 1 amp
Converting Amps to Watts
The conversion of Amps to Watts is governed by the equation Watts = Amps x Volts
For example 1 amp * 110 volts = 110 watts

Converting Watts to Volts
The conversion of Watts to Volts is governed by the equation Volts = Watts/Amps
For example 100 watts/10 amps = 10 volts

Converting Volts to Watts
The conversion of Volts to Watts is governed by the equation Watts = Amps x Volts

For example 1.5 amps * 12 volts = 18 watts
Converting Volts to Amps at fixed wattage

The conversion of Volts to Amps is governed by the equations Amps = Watts/Volts
For example 120 watts/110 volts = 1.09 amps

Converting Amps to Volts at fixed wattage
The conversion of Amps to Volts is governed by the equation Volts = Watts/Amps
For Example, 48 watts / 12 Amps = 4 Volts

Amps are how many electrons flow past a certain point per second. Volts is a measure of how much force that each electron is under. Think of water in a hose. A gallon a minute (think amps) just dribbles out if it is under low pressure (think voltage). But if you restrict the end of the hose, letting the pressure build up, the water can have more power (like watts), even though it is still only one gallon a minute. In fact the power can grow enormous as the pressure builds, to the point that a water knife can cut a sheet of glass. In the same manner as the voltage is increased a small amount of current can turn into a lot of watts.

In theory 2 60 amp hour batts would give 120 amp hours but in practise it is not the case. The wiring has resistance, and you would probably never get the batts to accept a complete charge etc.

Etherlink Iii

I want to run the internet on my old Gateway running Win 98. I am missing the driver for my EtherLink III card?

I need this driver for my card but I don’t have the internet on that computer so I can’t download it. I don’t have a memory card slot either so I couldn’t transfer the files that way. Any suggestions?
Ok these are all good answers but I failed to mention that I tried the cd thing on my laptop but the other compute doesn’t recognize any files on the disc. And I also read that I may need to upgrade the computer to xp. Then a friend told me that I could download different files to make it work without xp but they don’t know what that file is called. Hmmm. I am getting discouraged and my just junk this thing. oh and i have a third computer that does recognize the files on the disc. I am able to do whatever I need on that computer but then again, that computer already had the internet ha ha. More answers please and thanks for the ones I got. Just didn’t help me.

use a friends computer and download on to a disc
