Fan Cpu
How long can CPU run without its heatsink fan working?
My CPU heatsink fan is spoilt! I currently have the CPU casing open and lying on it’s side, with a huge fan blowing into it.
How long would it take for the CPU to explode from heat? ><
If your CPU is Intel, then a bit longer than AMD. Intel has built stepping technology into the CPU – that is, if the heat dissipation fails, the CPU will slow down and not generate as much head so it won’t melt itself into a useless piece of silicon and metal. AMD doesn’t have the same technology, so it will happen much faster with that.
If I were you I’d shut down the PC, go to a friend’s house and use their PC to order a new heatsink/fan combo. You can get really decent quiet ones for around $20.
Express Usb
How can I transfer messages from Outlook Express on Windows 98 to Outlook on Vista? USB chip will not work.?
The windows 98 computer does not read USB chips and the Vista computer has no floppy drive. Can you help?
I’ve got an USB optical device I don’t know if its the same but I transfered some messages from Windows 2000 to the xp with-out any trouble so what I may suggest is to use a CD-RW to transfer those at least you’ll be able to reuse the disc, it might not be as fast as an optical device but you should get the same results
Lcd Swivel
Why do digital SLRs never come with a swiveling LCD?
I love that feature because it lets me take pictures from practically every angle. Should I sacrifice that creative liberty for the advantages of a digital SLR? Is it worth it?
I’m deciding if I should buy a Canon PowerShot S3 or a DSLR.
Probably because SLR’s in general don’t do live preview, i.e. you can’t see the picture you are about to take on the LCD. You can only see it displayed after it’s been taken.
The exception to this is the Olympus EVOLT E-330. It has live preview and a tilting LCD for high/low angle shots (no swivel though).
Dell Lattitude
DELL Lattitude D600 processor fake name .. is it possible?
I bought a second-hand laptop DELL D600 Lattitude … It showed Intel Centrino processor 1.4 GHz … after a week it is showing Intel Pentium M processor … I am so confused … the PC speed is the same … just the processor name is appearing different.
This is absolutely correct, there is no Intel Centrino processor.
the correct designation is Pentium M.
Centrino is a technology introduced by Intel. It consists of 3 parts in a notebook computer – the processor, the chipset and the wireless adapter. the purpose of this technology is to save power for a longer battery life.
From a certain time on, notebook manufacturers began to designate this technology simply as Centrino processor (what is indeed very confusing).
Nowadays you can see the same with the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors. Manufacturers name this as Centrino Duo processor. the meaning is still the same – a power saving technology.
Motherboard Core
How much more can I overclock intel quad core Q9450 with P5Q motherboard?
How much more can I overclock intel quad core Q9450 with P5Q motherboard if i am already at 375 FSB speed? with 5 fans and aftermarket cooler?
i say having fsb 400 is still easy, thats just 20%. from there, you can try to increase gradually the FSB by 5 or 10 every after successful stability test. also after fsb 400, you may need to put a manual voltage values for almost all the parameters. also, try to overclock with an open side panel. also, do you have a decent power supply? what is your aftermarket cooler? just remember to watch your temps while in stability test and don’t exceed the max cpu voltage.
