Apple Ram
Will 3rd Party RAM void Apple Warranty?
I’m planning on to installing 2gb RAM on a 1gb model Macbook. I’m wondering, if anything happens, will this void the AppleCare (the extended warranty)?
Though I guess I could just replace it when I take it back (although I don’t know if they will be able to find out
)
But it’s nice to know.
Thanks!
it may void ur warrenty if u buy a ram u should take it to the place where u brought it and ask em to install it to ur mac …
Max Memory
what is the max graphics memory for nvidia 9200m gs working on 3gb ram?
what is the max memory for nvidia 9200m gs working on 3gb ram and if i increased my ram could the graphics memory be increased
There is another twist, 9200m gs if in a HP laptop usually is a Dedicated graphics video card with ddr2. Could be a 256mb, maybe 512mb?. There was also a 9200m gs with ddr3 out there.
Dedicated means exactly that, it does not share memory with the rest of the computer per se. Dedicated vs Integrated or shared.
You will see better performance all around with more system memory. But you not going to “MAX ” anything video wise by increasing the shared video memory size. You improve overall performance with the additional system memory. You may even harm performance by making the shared memory reserve higher.
So what you think you want to do, can not be done. You have what you have.
Pin Sata
why is it possible to convert 4 pin molex into sata but not the other way around?
Because SATA is a newer connector, that newer drives will be using. Seldom would one be expected to be using older drives in a newer system.
Supply Bestec
Dell Power Supply has burned out, what can I replace with?
My dads 3 month old Dell desktop took a power shot last night. It appears that the power supply got burned up. The computer was not running at the time. When you try to turn it on now, nothing happens. No lights, nothing. The power supply is a BESTEC Model ATX0300D5WB Is there something I can replace it with that will bolt right in? Do you think the power supply is the problem?
Yes i do believe the power supply is your problem. If your not getting no fan noise, lights etc. Before you call Dell try the following:
Take the power cord off the back of the system.Open the case, You will see a plug on the motherboard that looks like–http://www.karbosguide.com/books/pcarchitecture/images/979.jpg
Unplug that and plug it back in.Plug the power back up to the system and attempt to power it on. If that dont work:
You can contact Dell for a replacement. Especially since the system is under warranty. Or it should be.In most cases they overnight it to you or you can elect to have a tech come to your house to replace it if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself but its really simple.
Pay close attention to what your unplugging when replacing the power supply. You will have two plugs going to your motherboard alone and then plugs to each device such as your hard drive, cd drives etc.
Port Internal
What is an internal USB port?
I am looking at buying a new computer and it says it has 10 USB ports: 4 in front, 4 in back and 2 internal.
On some computers there is a usb port inside the “tower” it is usually a high speed 2.0 port if there is one. Other than being inside the tower there is nothing different about an internal usb port.
