Screen Bezel

Screen Bezel

Competition for the Asus Eee PC?

I currently have a monster desktop computer, and a Dell 700m as my portable machine – mostly for school and sometimes work. I don’t require much of my laptop beyond the very basics, since I have a desktop to do my real work. I’ve been checking out the Asus Eee PC to replace my 700m, which I like quite a bit, but I was really wondering if there’s anything else out there (or coming soon) that compares to it – perhaps with a smaller screen bezel and longer battery life. Price is definitely a concern since I don’t want to spend much beyond the resale price of the 700m- otherwise I might as well keep it (I’m guessing its worth about $600-$650 with two brand new extended batteries).

I’ve heard Asus is coming out with 2nd gen Eee PC, but haven’t seen any recent news about it.

Suggestions?

I think the 8g asus did come out, theres been a lot of talk about newer versions of the asus eee pc no real release dates though not even on their accessories. “Everex” I think that’s the company is coming out with the “cloudbook” this month. It’s supposedly compared to the asus eee. Same size, a goS os though which I guess is kinda like linux. but the cloudbook boasts about their 30G hard drive instead of 4G and I think upto 5 hr battery. All for about the same price as the asus eee.

Pcie Card

Pcie Card

How can I tell if my computer has a PCI or PCIE video card?

I have a Dell 9100 thats about 2 years old and am in need of a new video card. Just want to make sure i get the right kind the first time.

If you look at the diagrams here, it is clear you have a PCIE video card and mainboard.

Otherwise, look inside. Thee graphic below is of the various kinds of PCIE slots. Note: from the right to the left, the slot has a solid piece of plastic about a half inch in.

An AGP slot is like this:

Wireless Pcmcia

How do I setup a wireless router on my desktop computer when I’m using a PCMCIA Card to access the internet?

I have a desktop computer (Windows XP), using a PCMCIA card (Sierra AirCard 875) to connect to the internet through Cingular. I want to connect a Linksys wireless router (Wireless-G 2.4 GHz) to the desktop, so I can also access the internet from my other computer (which will have a LInksys wireless adapter). How do I configure the desktop and router so I can have wireless on my laptop?

you need a mobile broadband router that supports 3G/UMTS/HSDPA. see link below:

using the desktop as a bridge to share the Internet connection will be dreadfull.
