I have an IBM Thinkpad R40 type 2723? When I boot it up the screen is kind of dim and pinkish colored. After about an hour of running the screen flickers and goes VERY dim. I can still make out the images, and if I shine a flashlight on the screen I can see them more clearly. Can a tech please give me their opinion?

Your inverter is probably going out. If you have a warranty, use it. If not, it might cost you a bit to fix it.

I have a Dell dimension xps computer with pentium III software that has less than 1gb of ddr memory and im sure about the harddrive. It has all of the basic computer components but in 1999,
it was a high end, expensive studio computer. Also, it was made for microsoft, windows 98, windows ne, and possibly a few others. It is now 10 years old and I need to know how much money it is worth.

Absolute most would be $100 but that’s only if you could sell it to a real sucker, whether or not it was an expensive computer when you bought it doesn’t change the fact it’s only a Pentium III processor with less than 1GB of RAM, modern netbooks and computer with much better specs can go for as little as $200 so in your case anywhere between $25-50 in the most I would believe you could sell such a machine for, especially because of the fact at about 10 years of age, I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t have a lot of confidence in the parts lasting that much longer.

Hello, I am Gaspar from Ask Dr.Tech support service.

Well, it is not difficult. It would be better if you tell, what your OS is. For example, in Windows 7 it can be configured through OS settings.

1. In Windows XP you need to install drivers for your video adapter firstly.

2. Then go to Video Control Panel (right click on the icon in the system tray — it can be NVIDIA or ATI in most cases, but also possible built-in adapters from Intel).

3. Sometimes , you need just to right click on the icon in the system tray and choose “Rotation Options” and set them.

3.1. For Intel video adapters:
Right click on the icon in the system tray > Graphic Options > Rotation > set the Angle.

4. Similar settings are for most adapters.

What are the differences between Intel Dual Core, Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors?

Which is the best value for money? Which is best for multitasking? Which is best for graphics? Which is the most reliable? (I know other factors like memory must be considered, but for now I want to consider the processor).

Core 2 Duo is the latest apart from the Intel Quad Core. Get yourself a Core 2 Duo, they are great for all uses, such as gaming and running lots of applications.

Also great for overclocking if you ever got around to that.
