Ghz Cpu
What happens if your PC doesn’t meet the requirements for the CPU GHz?
I have 1.57GHz and need 2.4GHz to play a game, would it work?
It’ll run just not as fast as it should. Considerable lag will be an unfortunate byproduct.

Processor Upgrade
Will vista boot after a processor upgrade?
I have vista ultimate installed right now and am looking to upgrade my processor from dual to quad core. I am wondering if vista will still boot afterwords, or is the processor upgrade enough for vista’s anti piracy methods to kick in and forbid the computer to boot?
With vista, you have to remember that if there is a major hardware change within the computer, it’ll ask you to input your product-key for Vista again. So make sure you have that handy…
Other than that, your experience should be seamless.
Ghz Pentium
If I buy a 260 GTX will my 3.0 ghz Pentium D hold it back severely?
I recently bought an 8800 GS and my step-up program only has 20 days left so I’m gonna step-up to a 260 GTX. I wanted to know if my Dual-Core Pentium D at 3.0 Ghz is gonna bottleneck my 260.
It certainly could, but for most games, no.
Fan Socket
How do I install a P4 socket 478 fan/heatsink?
My fan on my 3-yr old computer failed so I got a new one. It is a Thermaltake for the P4, socket 478, obviously an old model (eg, no “manual” on their site).
It came w/no instructions. I have read about using thermal paste but do I really need to? I heard it voids any warranty. I have never installed one of these and I don’t want to ruin the cpu.
Anyone have detailed instructions?
The thermal paste is to transfer the heat from cpu to heatsink. You should add it to your heatsink.Just add like your old cpu paste design. Then take out your thermaltake and lookout how to install it.It must be one or two direction that can position the cooler.Just try it.I think its very simple or if you confuse again, then type the product name at yahoo search.Maybe there its a manual to install it.
