Lcd Light
Laptop screen shows but lcd light isnt on…?
I can see everything but it hard to see… and the lcd light isnt working.
I assume you have tried adjusting the brightness from the keyboard buttons and from the Control Panel?
Use the OS CDs that came with it to boot into Safe mode. Do the backlights work now? If so, readjust the brightness control in Safe mode, and reboot the machine normally. DO NOT adjust the brightness in normal mode.
If the backlight doesn’t work when booted from the CD, then likely your backlights have burnt out or the connection or the power circuit to them is defective. Take the machine to a technician or contact the manufacturer if it is still under warranty.

1) by default most p.c,s(and laptops) support just one parallel port,however since this type of port is only used for printer connections and all printers now connect via usb2.0 the port is basically been made redundant
2)windows 98(first edition) and wndows 95 did not support the usb feature,however with windows 98 second edition usb connectivity was one of the main features in this enhanced edition of windows 98
3)the “protocol method” is the feature that enables data to be transfered from peripheral to peripheral,and there are four catergorys of scsi commands which are N (non-data), W (writing data from initiator to target), R (reading data), and B (bidirectional). There are about 60 different SCSI commands in total, with the most common being:
Test unit ready: Queries device to see if it is ready for data transfers (disk spun up, media loaded, etc.).
Inquiry: Returns basic device information, also used to “ping” the device since it does not modify sense data.
Request sense: Returns any error codes from the previous command that returned an error status.
Send diagnostic and Receives diagnostic results: runs a simple self-test, or a specialised test defined in a diagnostic page.
Start/Stop unit: Spins disks up and down, load/unload media.
Read capacity: Returns storage capacity.
Format unit: Sets all sectors to all zeroes, also allocates logical blocks avoiding defective sectors.
SCSI Read format capacities: Retrieve the data capacity of the device.
Read (four variants): Reads data from a device.
Write (four variants): Writes data to a device.
Log sense: Returns current information from log pages.
Mode sense: Returns current device parameters from mode pages.
Mode select: Sets device parameters in a mode page.

What would the best type of electrical protection UPS or Surge Protector?
I’m looking to protect a commercial use GPS computer electricaly from surge. It is hardwired to a 24VDC terminal and 12VDC terminal for a RUN/Held. The power logic is initialized when it sees 8 amps.
MOST UPS devices ALSO have surge protection for 110 volts supply.
For other voltages, you should contact the manufacturer of the device for information.
